This model takes the new 690LRVS adds a professional edge guide and a case and combines it all in one box. We took the famous 690 router first introduced in the late 1960s and did the impossible, improved it. Not only has the power been increased to 1-3/4 horsepower, but also we added a dust sealed rocker switch, larger more ergonomic handles and a one hand operated lever release for locking the motor depth in place.

This new lever is extremely useful for router table users and incorporates a motor "catch" that will not allow the motor to drop out of the base when loosened. The 1/2- and 1/4-inch self-releasing collets are a dream come true when bit changes are necessary and the 10-amp, all aluminum motor housing and base ensure cool running even with large diameter bits.

Bought this router last week. A very nice piece of equipment. Solid, well put together, everything you expect in a Porter Cable Tool. With more power than my old 690 router I haven't been able to stop it yet. The collets change in a snap, and the motor won't fall out when inverted in a table. The edge guide is a great bonus, making this router not only the most widely accepted for aftermarket accessories, but a great value as well.
